The UN has made youth program strategy for the protection of health

Здоровье подростков

Sex education does not lead to early sex and helps to protect the health of adolescents. This was stated by the expert of the United Nations Fund for population (UNFPA) Ilya Zhukov.

According to Magicforum citing the UN news Center, according to the source, the new youth strategy, which was presented at the Foundation is called “My body, my life, my world.” We are talking about things that Teens should have the right to dispose of his own body and make decisions regarding their health.

“As we see the implementation of this strategy? Of course, we can’t do this alone and it is not our task. Our objective is to help governments and our partners in each country to move in these three directions – on the one hand. But on the other hand, the task of the UNFPA is not only to support the government and youth organizations, so that they also had a “seat at the table” together with the government to ensure that their involvement was meaningful. In the region we see such examples: one example is Ukraine. A few years ago there was a small movement “Tinajitas” (Teenergizer), which deals with sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and youth – primarily those exposed to HIV infection either living with HIV or somehow confronted with it,” – said Zhukov.

According to him, the sexual education of young people does not promote early sex, and abstinence, as such, does not work. The teenager, he said, he has to make decisions for solutions, especially related to his health.

Sex education, he said, is, first, relationships: family, friendship, love; second, culture, society and sexuality; third, the “gender equality”; in the fourth, violence; fifthly, skills, health and well-being; sixth, the body and human development; the seventh theme is sexuality and sexual behavior.

All of these topics, said the source, consider our experts in the new program. The main theme of the eighth, he added, is the theme of reproductive health, where we review with the students the issues of pregnancy and HIV infections, sexually transmitted.
