Nigeria Will Stop Rice Importation By 2019 – Osibanjo

The vice president of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, revealed the year in which the country will stop importing rice.

TheCable reports that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria will stop importing rice for next year, 2019.

According to Laolu Akande, senior special assistant to the president for media and publicity, Osinbajo said this on Sunday in the palace of Musa Dogonkadai, the Seriki community of Hausa in Agege, Lagos.

He said that the leaders of these countries help their farmers to expand their farms so that they can earn money.

The vice president said the federal government, through its anchor borrower program, had granted soft loans to more than 760,000 farmers to produce rice, millet and sorghum.

Osinbajo said the federal government will continue working to improve the well-being of all Nigerians. “Look at what is happening in the north now because of the anchor borrower program.

We gave many of the farmers, more than 760,000 farmers, soft loans. So, now they are producing rice, producing millet, producing sorghum, “said Osinbajo. “We are not importing rice now. We bring rice from Kebbi, from Sokoto, from all over the country. For next year, we are not going to import rice.

All our rice will be produced here. When you do that, the farmers will be rich. Farmers in other countries are rich people. They are not poor. I have been in a country where farmers own airplanes. Why? Because their leaders are not thieves.

Their leaders help them so that they can cultivate; They can expand their farms and earn money. “I went to talk to them in Kebbi, two of the farmers came to me and said that since our government (came to power), they have been doing very well.” One of them said: “Now I have my money, I can pay my hajj. “Another one even told me that he had married a second wife and I said no, no.

I told him not to do that because a wife is enough. He said that since he is getting some money he can marry a second wife “But the truth of the matter is that there is enough money for us in this country.

I think we should give enough votes to President Muhammadu Buhari to lead this country for four more years. If he leads this country for four more years, you will see the difference. “
